Description

Society is facing a vitally important change in order to achieve an energy mix, combining different energy sources to cover a country’s electricity supply. This allows the reduction of CO2 emissions, as well as the better use of resources through technological tools that allow the extraction of renewable energy resources and their energy storage.

The goal is for companies to develop their own energy solutions to manage energy efficiently. To achieve this, ITE develops and uses new technologies that boost the development and competitiveness of companies.

Spain is in an energy transition phase aiming to become a green country, through the use of renewable and non-renewable energies, i.e. using an energy mix. In order to achieve this, we investigate how to implement cutting-edge technologies in energy production, distribution and consumption models to avoid greenhouse gas emissions.

Pioneering laboratory for energy digitalization

This pilot plant, financed with IVACE funds and co-financed with FEDER funds, has been designed as a demonstration and validation environment in which to test all these innovative tools within the framework of an authentic energy community.

To this end, GAMMA offers energy infrastructures that provide the most innovative digital solutions. This allows companies to provide complete control over resource management in an optimal, remote and decentralized way. In addition, the systems maintain the stability of the network, identify errors in operations, and encourage and facilitate users to actively participate in the processes to achieve the energy transition.

In order to facilitate compatibility between the different solutions, GAMMA employs standardized digitization procedures ensuring the interoperability of the system. This system makes it possible to optimally manage the generation and storage resources of all renewable energy resources. A digital energy and electrical twin has been designed, a pioneer in the sector because it is evaluated both in real time and through historical evaluation. This makes it possible to analyse efficiency in various aspects, such as new energy markets, as well as new regulatory frameworks that allow the evolution of technologies.

Therefore, this laboratory offers various applications to companies that want to invest in the energy transition, such as improving the traceability of processes and reducing investment and maintenance costs. It is an opportunity to efficiently integrate energy resources for self-generation, electrical storage or sustainable mobility, as well as the generation of new jobs and the exponential growth of GDP.
